exceed piper cub j3 maiden flight
Duration: 1:38
Maiden flight of my Exceed J3 Piper Cub. It rained almost every day for the entire month on June, had every day for the last 2 weeks. Took advantage of a break in the weather to fly, and as I'm writing this a couple hours later, it's pouring out again. Funny how the field can look large enough, but how small it gets when you start flying. I flew RC planes a little about 25 years ago. About 3 years ago my son and I flew some tiny Air Hogs Aero Ace Bipes (2 channel, no rudder or elevator) but we haven't done that in a couple years. So anyway, this is my first real RC plane piloting in about 25 years. Once I got the hang of how it handled, it wasn't bad at all. I felt comfortable once the video was done and had a good time flying. My son flew it, too, and did a good job except for a couple turns too close to the ground. Only minor damage. I bought this for $69.95 delivered. It flies great. It's stable, predictable, has plenty of power and stalls are easy to control. I've got larger wheels coming to help with grass landings. The plane is well designed and the finish is way better than I expected. So, OK, it's no helicopter, but it was still fun. I'm going to get one or two more of these, then a couple 4 channel ones. I want a bi-plane like a Jenny, and maybe a Mini Telemaster. Well, Chuck, here's the maiden flight video like I promised :)
